Introductory Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Imaging  Course

 

York, 24-25th July 2010

This is a two day introduction to the use of musculosketal ultrasound imaging, and is ideal for Physiotherapists and Doctors with a special interest in MSK/Sports medicine.  The course is biased towards practical training, with experienced tutors and a high ratio of scanners to delegates.

The subjects covered include

Physics of ultrasound

Safety and training isssues

Basic scanning technique

Image optimisation

Imaging of musculoskeletal structures

Assessment of muscle function and biofeedback for spinal stabilisers.

Examination of the shoulder, knee and ankle joints.

Ultrasound guided injections

Learning outcomes

Awareness of the basic technology of ultrasound imaging

Knowledge and practical experience of the safe use of ultrasound.

Basic knowledge required to begin developing more advanced musculoskeletal scanning skills.

Understanding of the safety issues.
