Musculoskeletal Ultrasound Imaging

This two day course is designed for clinicians with little or no experience in diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging. It is aimed at physiotherapists, sports physicians, orthopaedic surgeons and rheumatologists, but may also be of interest to GPs, chiropractors and osteopaths. The course is very much hands on, with delegates spending as much time as possible practicing the basic skills. The lectures are short and to the point, and practical tuition is in small groups with a high tutor to delegate ratio. The course is not designed with radiologists and sonographers in mind, but those that have come on our course in the past have found it useful for those who have not had formal training in MSK. The subjects covered include Physics of ultrasound Safety and training isssues Basic scanning technique Image optimisation Imaging of musculoskeletal structures Examination of the shoulder, knee and ankle joints. Ultrasound guided injections Learning outcomes Awareness of the basic technology of ultrasound imaging Knowledge and practical experience of the safe use of ultrasound. Basic knowledge required to begin developing more advanced musculoskeletal scanning skills. Understanding of the safety issues. Fee: Allied Health Professionals £330
